(103) Free and open-source AI components covers the software and data, including models and general-purpose AI models, tools, services or processes of an AI systemAI systemmeans a machine-based system that is designed to operate with varying levels of autonomy and that may exhibit adaptiveness after deployment, and that, for explicit or implicit objectives, infers, from the input it receives, how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations, or decisions that can influence physical or virtual environmentsArticle 3(1). Free and open-source AI components can be provided through different channels, including their development on open repositories.
